Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria vary slightly depending on the department. Candidates must also have passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE.

For Directorate of Education:

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) regulations-2002. OR¹

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). OR²

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR³

• Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

• Must have passed Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, or English as a subject at the secondary level.

For New Delhi Municipal Council:

• 12th pass with 50% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST) from a recognized board.

• Two-year Diploma in Primary Education/Certificate Course in ETE/JBT/DIET/B.El.Ed. from a recognized institution.

• Must have passed Hindi as a subject in the 10th class.

Age Limit:

• Maximum Age: Not exceeding 30 years as of October 16, 2025.

• Age Relaxation: Permissible for reserved categories as per government rules (e.g., 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, etc.).

Application Fee

• General/OBC/EWS: ₹100

• SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-serviceman: Nil

• The fee can be paid online using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.

How to Apply

2. If you are a new user, complete the OARS (Online Application Registration System) registration.

3. Log in using your registration details.

4. Fill out the online application form with all the required personal and educational details.

7. Submit the application and download a copy for your records.

Selection and Exam Pattern

• The selection process is based on a One-Tier (Technical/Teaching) Examination.

• The exam will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks.

• There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

• The exam duration is 2 hours.

• The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English), except for the language sections.

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability (20 marks)
