The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has announced the recruitment of 4,543 Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent posts. This is a full description of the recruitment drive.

Vacancy Details

The total number of vacancies is 4,543, distributed across different posts and categories.

  • Sub Inspector Civil Police (Male/Female): 4,242 posts

  • Platoon Commander PAC / Sub Inspector Armed Police (Male): 135 posts

  • Sub Inspector / Platoon Commander, Special Security Force (Male): 60 posts

  • Sub Inspector Civil Police (Women) for Women Battalion: 106 posts

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree from a university established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the government.

  • Certain posts might have additional requirements, such as an "O" Level Computer Examination certificate from NIELIT or specific typing/shorthand skills.

2. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years as of July 1, 2025

  • Maximum Age: 28 years as of July 1, 2025

  • Age Relaxation: Age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC) as per government rules. A one-time 3-year relaxation in the upper age limit has also been announced for all categories.

Selection Process

The selection process is a multi-stage process designed to assess candidates' mental and physical fitness.

  1. Online Written Exam: This is a computer-based, objective-type test of 400 marks with 160 questions. The exam has no negative marking and a duration of 2.5 hours. To qualify, candidates must score a minimum of 35% in each subject and 50% overall. The four subjects are:

    • General Hindi

    • Law/Constitution/General Knowledge

    • Numerical and Mental Ability Test

    • Mental Aptitude Test/Intelligence Test/Test of Reasoning

  2. Document Verification & Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates who clear the written exam are called for document verification and a physical standard test. The PST measures height, chest (for males), and weight (for females).

    • Height:

      • Male (Gen/OBC/SC): 168 cm

      • Male (ST): 160 cm

      • Female (Gen/OBC/SC): 152 cm

      • Female (ST): 147 cm

    • Chest (Male Only):

      • Gen/OBC/SC: 79 cm (unexpanded) to 84 cm (expanded)

      • ST: 77 cm (unexpanded) to 82 cm (expanded)

    • Weight (Female Only): Minimum of 40 kgs.

  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who pass the PST must complete a running test.

    • Male Candidates: 4.8 km in 28 minutes

    • Female Candidates: 2.4 km in 16 minutes

  4. Medical Test: The final stage involves a medical examination to ensure the candidate is in good physical and mental health.

Salary and Perks

  • Pay Scale: Rs. 9,300 to Rs. 34,800

  • Basic Pay: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month

  • Grade Pay: Level 6 of the Pay Matrix

  • In-Hand Salary: Approximately Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 58,000 per month

  • Allowances: In addition to the basic salary, SIs are entitled to various allowances, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), Medical Allowance, Uniform Allowance, and Ration Money Allowance.
